Moments to remember

My sweet kids,
You bring me such joy. How thankful I am that I get to awaken to you each day. Britton you wake up talking, talking, talking, planning, planning, planning out each minute of the new day. Cade wakes up happy, joyful and hungry. Chesney usually awakes a little grumpy, which you get honest from your dear Mommy.
Some sweet moments I didn't want to let slip away:

The other day Cade was walking around the house all wrapped up in one of his 4 night nights that Ms Kim has made us. Britton and Chesney adamantly denied wrapping you up like this. If you did this it just makes me giggle!! Your new favorite word is "ME". You say this anytime you want something. You point at the object or thing you want and say "ME". It brings me such joy to see you walk up to me hold up your hands and say, "ME", which means hold me now mommy!! Oh how it makes my heart melt. What a blessing you are sweet son.

Chesney has been in to dress up these days and has awoke several mornings to get all dressed up for me. What I love about your dress up moments is the layering of multiple different characters, ninja turtle shell, rain boots, sword stuck in your pants, princess outfit on under the shell etc. For some reason I know you well enough to know it all goes together for a specific reason. It's really not just put on in order it was found, as it appears to be done.
Another funny conversation between you and Mommy this week: "Chesney, what was that sound, did you fall out of bed?" Oh, no Mommy, that was just that chicken bone falling off of my bed on to the floor". "What chicken bone thing Chesney?" "You know Mommy that chicken bone thingy that I was playing with on my bed." To which I replied, "Oh, okay honey, goodnight!"
Im still unsure of what chicken bone thingy you are talking about, but you know and thats all that matters :)

Oh Britton, lets play some ball! This week you had your first game with the Cubs. You played against your best buddy, Alex. He is on the Mets. You really had a great game. Got 2 outs, 2 runs home, and got on base with each hit, no strike outs.Your team won 9-8. It was tied 8-8 in the last inning and you guys pulled out the win. You have always been on a losing team. In fact in the past 3 seasons of baseball you only won one game. So, this is a great victory. A win on opening game day. Go Cubs!! You are really playing well this year. It so much fun watching you learn how to play this sport. I love listening to you show me over and over how to stand appropriately at the plate to swing at the ball! I love watching you teach Chesney how to play baseball. I love the joy in your eyes as we get ready to go play some ball. Fun, fun times!! So proud of you my sweet son!

Just a few moments that I needed to not let pass by. I love you all so much and praise the Lord for giving me the greatest job in the world, Mommy to the 3 of you and wife to a wonderful hubby!!

Today we awoke to snow. This is the first real snow in Birmingham in 8 years. We have had a dusting of snow a couple of times, but nothing you could really play in. It snowed all morning till noon. Cade really didn't care for the snow, Chesney just wanted to eat the snow, and Britton only wanted to throw it. We had a blast making snowmen, having snowball fights, sliding down the hill and taking pictures. So, here's Mommy's proverb: Snow is healing to the heart and soul, it brings you joy and hope. Profound wise words, I know. But, playing in the snow is just one of those moments in time that take you back to being a kid all over again. The joy of watching my beautiful children delight in God's creation does heal, bring joy, and hope. Thank you Lord for creating this awesome, white stuff that brings out the kid in all of us!

Mommy, why are we at the zoo, not the firestation?

Today we woke up excited about our field trip on fire safety at the Hoover fire station. We all got up, dressed and ready to go to learn about firemen. We got there 20 minutes early (NOT SURE HOW THAT HAPPENED). We sat in the car awaiting the others in our homeschool group to arrive. Around 5 til 10am, Mommy realized that no one else had shown up yet. So, I called Daddy and had him look it up on the calender. Sure enough we were 1 WEEK AND 20 MINUTES EARLY!!(Someone needs to remember that once in my life I was early, really early!) Imagine that. Im unsure why I had it in my brain that today was fire safety day. Who knows how a Mommy's brain works at all anyway?
So, we decided to head to the zoo. It was a beautiful day. We were out, dressed and ready to not do sit down school anyhow. This was the day the Lord had made!
It was perfect zoo weather. There was NO ONE at the zoo. The animals were craving attention and showed off for us all! We had an incredible time. Probably one of the best we've ever had! The tiger tried to kiss us through the glass. The sleeping zebra's made a mad dash away when we accidentally made a little noise. We saw a llama spit at a little boy who was petting him. We saw a pile of monkey's sleeping on top of each other. We got up close and personal with a peacock, that we later learned was named Sam. We had a private train ride where we saw a 19 year old Crane that we learned was from Japan. We also honked at the gorilla and woke him up from his slumber. We saw woodpeckers and tree's with faces! It was a glorious day to bask in the glory of God's creation. Thank you Lord for sending us to the zoo today and showing us how wonderful and awesome you are!

Here is the video of the tiger, up close and personal!

Bed Time Shenanigans

The other night as I was lying down with Chesney in her bed for bedtime, she decided to get up and play. She went to the foot of the bed and got the these four items. A baby doll, a Dora the explorer doll and a purple stuffed monkey. She also retrieved a small pink doll blanket. She laid them all down on a pillow beside me and covered them with the blanket. I asked "are you their Mommy like Mommy is to you, Cade and Britton". She replied "Yes the baby doll is Cade, the Dora doll is me and the purple monkey is Britton". At which I laughed at the thought of the monkey being Britton, which in turn caused her to start giggling, which created a vicious cycle of her saying that the monkey is Britton and making me laugh even harder each time. Needless to say it took a little longer to get to sleep that night with all the shenanigans going on at bedtime. I love your sense of humor Chesney! Just don't tell Britton I thought it was funny that he was the monkey. Love, Daddy
