SUPERDAD to the Rescue !!!!!

My sweet children today was a long day. I thought I 'd journal what a LONG day looks like in this house. We woke with a great bible lesson about our new memory vs. Psalm 16:24, " Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." We had a wonderful discussion about exactly what this verse means and how we were going to try to use pleasant words to one another all day. Then we had a pretty good school time. Britton you are learning about the long vowel sounds. You did extra good on your writing today. Chesney, you are learning your ABC's. You love to write on the dry erase board and practice writing your letters. You actually do amazingly well at this for 3 years old. Then we broke up for snack/ tv time. And the day down spiralled from there. Chesney you began melting down with Mommy. Speaking very unpleasant words which landed you in time out for much of the day. During one point Mommy asked you to pray for God to change your heart today, and you prayed, "God please change MOMMIES heart today!" You were very serious too. We struggled through lunch and through nap time. During nap time, Mommy got several phone calls from friends going through many difficult life problems. Which made me even more sad and burdened today. We then went to the park to play and meet some friends who had invited us to play. They didn't show up.... So, now we have 2 children very upset that their friends didn't show up at the park. Thank the Lord Sissy showed up by chance!! That saved us some tears. We then went home at 4:45pm. Both Chesney and Cade were crying tears of hunger. Mommy is melting down quickly, praying that Daddy will be home to save the day SOON as Im frantically getting dinner ready. Thankfully,Daddy arrived at 5:20pm HAPPY! He swooped in like SuperDad and saved the night. He put on loud music and danced with you all. He cut and carved 3 pumpkins and played sword fighting !!! What a great Daddy. What a great end to a hard day.

Favorite moment of the day was Cade sitting at the table for lunch. Dancing while shoveling fists full of food into his mouth. Chesney walked into the room and Cade said, " Hey Che-ne" It was clearly, "Hey Chesney", and we all heard it and laughed in amazement!!! Cade, you make a bad day wonderful!!!
Even in a long, hard day, you all make me smile and bring me such joy!! Maybe will try pleasant words again tomorrow :), or maybe not....

Why are your eyes leaking Mommy?

Yesterday was a very emotional day at church. Your Daddy preached an incredible message!!Our church has been praying fervently for the Lord to give us direction. The church finances have really dropped the last couple of months, forcing us to make some tough decisions. The church doesn't have enough money to pay for the building and utilities. So, we have been praying about leasing out our building for other ministries and meeting in a community called Southtown to minister to those people. It has been a very humbling, sad, anxious and awesome experience all the way around. Mommy has been very emotional through this process, because church as we know it is about to change. During church we poured out our hearts to the Lord for wisdom. As Mommy was praying at the alter I was crying and you,Chesney, were at my side to take care of me.You asked me, " Why are your eyes leaking Mommy?" You then proceeded to sit beside me while I prayed and cried. You petted my head, laid on my lap and nurtered me. It was a beautiful moment!! Thank you my sweet child for loving on Mommy today!! The Lord is gracious, He is about to do GREAT things among us and through us!!

Looks like we need to do some practicing on that!

Yesterday, we studied Proverbs 21:23, " He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity." We talked about how we were going to focus on watching our words to one another and to our Mommy and Daddy today. We wanted our words to be loving and kind to one another all day. Needless to say it was a day of many spankings in this house. The house as a whole failed at this verse all day. At family worship time last night we talked about this verse again and discussed how we all did for the day. I said Britton, "How did we do today with applying our bible verse?" Your answer, " Bad, very bad! Looks like we need to do some practiing on that, ALOT of practicing!" You are right my son. We all have a long way to go with guarding our tongues, Mommy and Daddy included!
So, lets try again today!

"Will God be so happy if I do's that?"

"Will God be so happy if I do's that?" was the question of the day from Chesney. Everytime you did something good you would ask me this most endearing question. Then when you were in trouble you would ask me, " Is God so sad at me for that?" Needless to say it was a day of many spankings and much training. But you are only 3 and to know that you care what God thinks of you makes my heart SO HAPPY!

"Kickem in the be-hind!"

While we were leaving church this Sunday, we were talking on the way to the car about our baseball game that afternoon. The conversation went like this, " Man Momma, we are going to kick that team in the Beee - hind today!" says Britton. To which Chesney replies, " Awww, Brittn, you can't kick them in the B-hind, they might kick you back!" I love the way you take every thing so literally Chesney. You are too cute for words.
The game was a kick in the behind alright, however we didn't do the kicking...
I don't know what the final score was, but we were slaughtered. In our defense, it was to a Springville all star team that was 2 years older than us. Britton you of course new no different. You were happy to play ball and think it was a great game!

Wow, the first family blog entry

Here we go Best Family. I have created this spot for Mommy to journal our most precious, funny, intimate and sweet moments. We will always have this spot to remember those days that make us the Best family!!
So, here we go. This is who we are today.

Daddy is 35 years old. He is making a huge job transition this week. He is going from a full time ministry job as a chaplain to a Best Ins. agent with his Dad, Raymond. He is also the Assosiate Pastor at our church The Downtown Church. He does this job full time, unpaid.
He is an incredible Daddy, leader and Husband!

Mommy is 34 years old. That is 1 year younger than your Daddy ;)
I am a former nurse, now a full time Mommy, Wife and Teacher.
I spend my days with you my beautiful children. Teaching, Hugging, laughing, cleaning, playing, schooling and training to love the Lord with all of your heart, mind and soul.

Britton, you are 7 years old. You love to play baseball. Currently you are playing fall ball for the Trussville ball park. This is your 4th year of baseball and your first year to hit from a pitching machine. You are doing great!! You asked Jesus into your heart this year and were baptised by you Dad on Father's day. Your baby brother, Cade, was dedicated on that same day. It was a very special day in the Best house!! You truly love the Lord and it shows!! You frequently make signs that say, " God loves you", and then pass them out to our new neighbors. You have wild strawberry blond hair, alot of freckles and you are currently missing your front 2 teeth.
Your Mommy and Daddy could not be more proud of you!!! What a blessing you are to us!

Chesney, you are 3 years old. You have grown up so much this year. You currently love to play with baby dolls, you love to cook in your kitchen and throw pretend birthday parties. You also love to write lots of letters. Everyday, you walk around the house with some sort of back pack, purse, or metal box with a handle filled with your special "papers and writing's", and a pen.
You are beginning to ask alot of questions about Jesus. You always ask me, " Is Jesus right here, right now in this room with me?" You say this with many hand gestures and a cute facial expression. Just today, you asked me if Cade was coveting his horse as he was disobeying his Mommy by touching the dishwasher. The conversation went something like this: "Mommy, is Cade coveting God's horse right now! cause he's touching that dishwasher." You asked me this because we have been talking about the 10 comandment in the bible. One of which is "Thou shalt not covet your neighbors donkey". You make us laugh all of the time. You are so precious to us. We are so thankful God made you just the way you are. You bring us much, much JOY!! We love you my sweet daughter.

Cade, you will be 10 monthes old in 2 days. You are the most laid back fun baby we have had yet. It takes alot to get you upset. You eat great, sleep great, play great. What can I say you are the greatest baby ever. You add so much fun to this family. Your big brother and sister love you so much. You love them too! Right now you really love your "ball". You pick it up and throw it on command. You will play with the ball for hours on end.. Today you woke up telling me, "Hey Mama". Today you ate black beans, pita bread, peas, carrots and corn. You eat whatever I put in front of you. You love to eat! You are crawling and cruising around the house. You keep thinking about trying to walk, but then you bend back down and crawl. You look like a little crab as you crawl with one foot flat on the ground and one knee on the ground. You also love to play in toilets and the cat food. Those are the things you get in trouble for the most right now.
Your smile and big blue eyes light up the room. You look very much like Britton did when he was a baby. It's amazing.
We prayed that the Lord would give us a child if it were His will for us to have another, and he gave us you!!!! You are a perfect addition to this family. We praise the Lord for you!

Sorry so long guys. Had to start us out with a bang. My prayer is for us to upload pictures and daily events that we want to treasure and never forget. I love you all MY family. I praise the Lord for you all!!!

Britton's 7th Birthday

This is a journal entry that I wrote to remember this day. This was written before this blog was created. Here is what Mommy wrote:
Today we woke up in a new home. We have been here for about 3 months but this was the first time to have a celebration of Britton in this home. Mommy made chocolate/chocolate chip and blueberry muffins and cantelope (your favorite fruit) for breakfast. You woke up at 6am(our earlybird). You put on your new thrift store overalls. You look like a Sugar Creek Gang boy for sure. (This is your favorite book series right now, you begged me to buy you some overalls so you could be like the SCG). We sang Happy Birthday and opened presents. You were given some starwars figures and a spaceship. A Narnia game for your DS. Some homemade PJ's, Alabama and Looney Toons. And a Alabama football shirt. Then we went to eat at Pizza Hut today with your Papaw Raymond. Nana picked you up in the late afternoon for a shopping trip to Target and Bama Fever. You came home with gifts for both of your siblings and a few for yourself. You are always thinking about them. I love that about you. We met you and Nana out and took you for your last present. A $10 shopping spree to the dollar store. You had a blast. You again bought your brother and sister a toy with your money.

Last we went out to eat at Konomi where you got to pretend to be a Chef. Here are some pics of that fun day, as well as the day we took you and your 3 best buddies to Alabama Adventure for a special birthday treat! I am so proud of you my son. The Lord is going to do Great things through you!
