Yesterday was a day that will be written in History books and will be remembered forever. The first black man to be President of the US. I wanted to write down this day on our blog spot so we could always look back and reflect on this time. Yesterday we awoke praying for the Lords will to be done as new leaders were chosen for this election. We talked about why we are a republican family and why we were voting for Senator Jon Macain. We also talked about how this would be a historical election like none other regardless of who wins. If republican wins then we have our first woman Vice President. If Democrats win then we will have our first black President. Mommy answered lots of questions about what that means. You see, Britton you have always called people who were not white, brown people. Something I will always cherish. You have never really seen any other differences between us, but that brown or white. My prayer is that you will always stay that way. We talked about the difficulties the brown people have had in their life and why this is such a big deal for our country. We also talked about how God made us all and it really doesn't matter to Him what color any of us are. He loves us all so much that His Son died for ALL of us.
We then went to the elecion poll together at First Baptist Trussville to cast Mommies vote. Britton you got to place my ballot in the electronic box, you really enjoyed that.
Then after dinner we watched on TV the results of the election begin to come in. All of the kids went to bed before the winner was determined. But, the first thing you, Britton, asked us this morning was, "Who won the election?" We read Romans 13 today for our bible time. We discussed how God chose our leaders and how we are to obey them, even if we disagree with their politics. We ended our morning asking the Lord to help us with our dissapointment in the election turn out and to we prayed for our new President. We discussed how our dissapointment comes from the values our new President holds that are not the same as many of ours, but how we are thankful that the Lord allowed our nation to overcome the racial issues and come to this very historical moment. I know you all don't understand much of this, but I believe we all learned alot through this election. Chesney loves the word OBAMA and ran around saying it all night, just because she liked the word...
That wraps us this election year and this memory of our election day!!
